Dr Abigail Baker

Project Curator, Being an Islander

Abigail Baker is a curator and archaeologist with a research interest in the history of archaeology. She is the author of Troy on Display: Scepticism and Wonder at Schliemann's First Exhibition (Bloomsbury, 2020) and has written on a range of topics from museum tours for women in the late 19th century, through propaganda exhibitions of Greek Art in WWII to the question of how to interpret inscriptions for today’s audiences. She has worked at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the British School at Athens’ Stratigraphic Museum at Knossos. She holds PhD in Classical Archaeology from Birkbeck College University of London and an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester.
