The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge is reinventing itself. As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and one of the largest cultural venues in the region, the Fitzwilliam aims to be a crucial bridge between the University, the city and the rest of the world, with an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, sector-leading public engagement and over half a million artefacts and works of art spanning centuries and cultures.

The Fitzwilliam workforce comprises approximately 200 members of staff and over 100 volunteers. The Fitzwilliam is the lead for the University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) partnership, bring together all eight museums and the Botanic Garden.

In line with the Fitzwilliam Museum Mission adopted in December 2019, the Museum is committed to developing its work and reputation as a great public asset and an extraordinary scholarly resource within the University, the region and the world.

We have just welcomed a new Directorate team of Deputy Directors and will be going through a period of transformational change in 2021, making this an exciting and busy time to be joining the Museum.

The role of the HR Coordinator:

The HR Coordinator will co-ordinate a comprehensive HR and payroll support service for all staff in to support the effective operation of the department. To be first line support for HR advice for line managers across the Fitzwilliam, as well as manage bespoke projects including the staff review and development scheme, analysing training needs and recommending appropriate courses of action. The FM has around 200 staff on a mix of Assistant, Academic-Related, Academic and Research contracts, plus volunteers and visiting scholars. Duties include:
