Sibel Ergener graduated in MA conservation studies in Books and Library Materials from West Dean College in 2013. Her research focused on the examination of gold on two Ottoman Qur'ans from Lambeth Palace. During her studies Sibel completed a work placement at the Victoria & Albert Museum and interned at the Leather Conservation Centre. Prior to attending West Dean College Sibel studied fine art and history at Carnegie Mellon University.At the Fitzwilliam Museum, Sibel is focusing on the conservation of medieval illuminated manuscript fragments. She will conduct a survey, conserve the parchment and pigments, and help mount or remount a large part of the collection. Her internship is funded with thanks to the National Manuscripts Conservation Trust and the Fitzwilliam Marlay Group.
