A number of green copper-based compounds of natural origin
This family of minerals, which includes brochantite, langite and posnjakite, appears to have been used by artists both North and South of the Alps, particularly in Northern Italy and in the Low Countries. Notably, copper sulphates have recently been identified in a number of 16th-century illuminated manuscripts painted by Flemish artists working both in their home country and in the Iberian peninsula.
