The Verses of St Gregory, a devotional exercise ascribed to Pope Gregory the Great (590-604), consists of seven short prayers, each evoking one of Christ’s afflictions during the Passion. The text opens with a large miniature of the Mass of St Gregory and a full historiated border with the Instruments of the Passion.
