The anonymous assistant executed the one-line ornamental initials, the line fillers, some of the small initials, and the borders on pages with no major decoration (fols. 33v, 37r, 104r). The assistant also painted the foliage and the minor hybrids in numerous borders sketched by the Macclesfield Master, but did not attempt to complete the large human figures and hybrids in the borders. This is apparent on fol. 45r, one of the few cases where a border has been left uncoloured.
