https://tickets.museums.cam.ac.uk is a site operated by the Chancellor, Masters, and Scholars of the University of Cambridge (“we” or “us”) acting through The Fitzwilliam Museum and other University of Cambridge Museums which are departments of the University of Cambridge.
This page (together with the documents referred to on it) tells you the terms and conditions on which we supply any of the products (“Products”) and services (“Services”) listed on our website https://tickets.museums.cam.ac.uk (“our site”) to you. Services may include the provision of places at conferences or on courses.
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before ordering any Products or Services from our site. You should understand that by ordering any of our Products or Services, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
TICKETS
- Ticket validity and usage
1.1. Tickets are valid for the date and time stated. Please check your tickets carefully when you receive them as we may not always be able to rectify mistakes.
1.2. Your contract is with the University but you should correspond at all times with the individual museum you book tickets for. The tickets remain the property of the individual museum for whom they are sold. If you are booking or purchasing tickets, specific terms apply.
- Formation of contract
2.1. A contract is only formed once we send an acknowledgement confirming your order.
2.2. The contract covers only the Products or Services confirmed in the acknowledgement.
2.3. By order a Product or Service from our site, you warrant that you are legally capable of entering into binding contracts and that you are at least 18 years old.
2.4. You warrant that all information provided by you is complete and accurate.
- Payment and pricing
3.1. The price of the tickets will be set out when we confirm your booking. Our prices may change at any time, but any such price change(s) will not affect existing bookings that have already been confirmed.
3.2. No order will be deemed accepted until we have received full payment.
- Concessions and access schemes
4.1. We offer a free ticket scheme for 18–25-year-olds and all further and higher education
students, providing complimentary access to our major temporary exhibitions. This free ticket scheme shall be subject to the terms and conditions listed further below.
4.2. Where a concession is claimed, proof of identity and concession entitlement (such as age or student status) may be required to obtain entry to an event.
4.3. For the avoidance of doubt, we do not offer refunds on any exhibition tickets purchased prior to your registration on the Fitz List Scheme.
- Refunds and exchange
5.1. We do not offer refunds or exchanges on tickets unless the exhibition date is cancelled or rescheduled. Ticket exchanges shall be agreed at the discretion of our ticket office.
5.2. Should cancellation be necessary we will attempt to contact you (by email to the email address provided in your order) in advance to arrange substitute tickets.
- Resale and transfer
6.1. You may not re-sell or transfer any tickets without our prior written consent. We will (subject to our discretion) refuse entry to any person who attempts to enter an exhibition with a ticket that has been resold or transferred without our written consent.
- Liability
7.1. We are not responsible for tickets that are lost, stolen, or destroyed. Replacement tickets may be issued at our discretion.
7.2. Personal arrangements, including travel, accommodation, or hospitality (whether booked independently or through third-party companies), are made at your own risk.
7.3. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Admission and conduct
8.1. Upon arrival you may be required to show a legible printout of your etickets; or a legible electronic version on a mobile device.
8.2. If you fail to produce any of the above you may not be admitted to the relevant exhibition or event.
8.3. Any persons for whom you have not bought an eticket who wish to enter an event will be required to pay the standard entry rates applicable to the relevant event.
8.4. We reserve the right to refuse admission or terminate a visit. Any aggressive or abusive behaviour directed towards our staff will not be tolerated.
8.5. There is no re-admission to the event or exhibition once you have left.
8.6. Your visit is subject to any notices displayed on site. You (and and any persons for whom you have bought tickets) must comply with all reasonable instructions from our staff or authorised representatives.
- Access to the site
9.1. We do our best to make sure the site is available and functioning, but we don’t guarantee it will always be available or uninterrupted.

MEMBERSHIP
- Types of Membership
1.1. Friends:
• Individual: One cardholder (yourself, or the gift recipient if purchased for someone else).
• Joint: Two cardholders at the same address. Each cardholder may visit and use benefits individually.
• Individual + Guest: One cardholder may visit chargeable exhibitions for free with any guest. Other benefits are applicable to cardholder only.

- Membership terms
3.1. This webpage sets out the terms and conditions of your Membership. You should read it carefully, as it outlines your rights and obligations. 3.2. Your Membership becomes valid immediately upon receipt of payment and is valid until the end of the calendar month of the following year.
3.3. If you do not renew, your Membership will expire automatically at the end of the membership period.
3.4. To become a member, you must be at least 18 years old.
3.5. To access your Membership benefits, you may be asked to present your Membership card. Members may also be asked to provide identification. 3.6. You will receive a reminder to renew 30 days prior to your Membership expiry.
3.7. Upon expiry, you will no longer be entitled to receive any Membership benefits.
3.8. You may cancel your Membership purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. You will receive a full refund in line with our refunds policy, except where complimentary exhibition entry has already been used. In such cases, the standard exhibition entry fee will be deducted from the total membership refund. The cancellation period ends 14 days after you receive the Membership.
3.9. To cancel, call us on +44 (0)1223 332933 or email us at development@fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk. You can also write to: Development Department, The Fitzwilliam Museum, 20 Trumpington Street, Cambridge CB2 1RB. Please clearly state that you wish to cancel. To meet the deadline, you only need to send your cancellation notice before the 14-day period ends.
3.10. We reserve the right to refuse admission or terminate a visit. Any aggressive or abusive behaviour directed towards our staff will not be tolerated and may result in suspension or termination of membership.

- Complaints and queries relating to Courtyard Kitchen Cafe Products should be directed to enquiries@fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk.
CANCELLATION
- Cancellation of Products
1.1. You may cancel within 14 days of receiving your order.
1.2. Returned items must be in the condition in which you received them and sent back within 14 days at your cost.
1.3. Subject to these terms, we will refund the item and standard delivery costs within 14 days of receiving the goods or proof of return.
1.4. Deductions may apply for excessive handling. Refunds are via the original payment method.
1.5. We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise.
1.6. You will not have any right to cancel for any Products that are bespoke or customised ; which by reason of their nature cannot be returned or are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly; goods received sealed for health protection or hygienic reasons once unsealed; audio or video recordings or computer software if they have been unsealed by you; or goods once they have been inseparably mixed after delivery.
- Cancellation of Services as a consumer
2.1. You may cancel your Product within 14 days of from the day of conclusion of the contract for Services by contacting us at tickets@museums.cam.ac.uk, or call +44 (0) 1223 333230, or via post to The Fitzwilliam Museum, Trumpington Street, Cambridge CB2 1RB.
2.2. If you cancel a contract for Services, we will reimburse you all payments received from you including the cost of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us.
2.3. Express request to start the services within the cancellation period – if you wish to start our services during the cancellation period, you must make an express request to do so in writing, e.g. by email. If you subsequently decide to cancel the contract, you will be liable to pay us an amount which is in proportion to the services performed until you have communicated your decision to cancel, in comparison to the full coverage of the contract.
2.4. The right to cancel no longer applies if the services have been fully performed following an express request to start within the cancellation period.
- Cancellation of Services as a non-consumer
3.1. If you cancel a contract for services at any time not being a consumer, we will be entitled to withhold all or a proportion of the price paid for the services, as specified in relation to the services in question prior to booking. If nothing is specified, the amount withheld shall be:
• Cancellation more than 30 days before the due date of the Services: 15% of purchase price. • Cancellation 30 days or fewer before the due date of the Services: 100% of the purchase price.
3.2. The withholding of the purchase price (or a proportion of it) shall also apply to any Services cancelled at any time (whether not by a consumer), to the extent that it represents a contract for the supply of food or accommodation.
- Our right to cancel Services
4.1. We will make all reasonable efforts to deliver the course or conference as outlined on the website. However we reserve the right to alter the timetable, location or presenters specified for a conference or course and to make reasonable amendments to the content and syllabus of a course or conference when necessary.
4.2. We reserve the right to cancel by giving you notice in writing at any time up to the day before the Services are due to start. We will refund all fees paid by you and will endeavour to offer a transfer to another course or conference as an alternative, subject to payment or refund of any difference in purchase price. You are strongly advised to take out insurance against cancellation of any event if your travel costs are likely to be substantial.
4.3. We reserve the right to cancel your registration for the provision of any Services in our absolute discretion and refund all fees paid by you, irrespective of whether the Service course, conference or event itself is to proceed, without any further liability on our part.
4.4. We also reserve the right to terminate the provision of any Service or to exclude you from any course, conference or other event after its commencement if in our absolute discretion we consider that you are impeding the provision of the Service or other of our activities or your presence is bringing or threatening to bring the University or any part of it or its subsidiaries into disrepute. In these circumstances we will refund all fees paid by you but will have no further liability to you in respect of such termination or exclusion.
GENERAL
- Liability
1.1. To the extent permissible by law, our liability for losses you suffer as a result of us breaking this agreement is strictly limited to the purchase price of the Product or Service you purchased.
1.2. We are not responsible for indirect losses which happen as a side effect of the main loss or damage.
- Intellectual Property
2.1. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall give you any right or other licence to use copy or otherwise use or exploit in any way any intellectual property contained in any Product or Service.
- Written communications
3.1. Applicable laws require that some of the information or communications we send to you should be in writing. We will contact you by e-mail or provide you with information by posting notices on our website. You agree to this electronic means of communication and you acknowledge that all contracts, notices, information and other communications that we provide to you electronically comply with any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
- Assignment
4.1. You may not transfer, assign, charge or otherwise dispose of a contract, or any of your rights or obligations arising under it, without our prior written consent.
- Events outside our control
5.1. We will not be liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations under a Contract that is caused by events outside our reasonable control, to include without limitation strikes or other industrial action; civil commotion; riots; terrorist attacks; war; fire, explosion, storm, flood, earthquake, subsidence, epidemic or other natural disaster; Impossibility of the use of public or private transport; Impossibility of the use of public or private telecommunications networks; or the acts, decrees, legislation, regulations or restrictions of any government.
- Waiver
6.1. If we fail, at any time during the term of a contract, to insist upon strict performance of any of your obligations under the contract or any of these terms and conditions, or if we fail to exercise any of the rights or remedies to which we are entitled under the contract, this shall not constitute a waiver of such rights or remedies and shall not relieve you from compliance with such obligations.
- Severability
7.1. If any of these terms and conditions or any provisions of a contract are determined by any competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, such term, condition or provision will to that extent be severed from the remaining terms, conditions and provisions which will continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- Entire agreement
8.1. These terms and conditions and any document expressly referred to in them represent the entire agreement between us in relation to the subject matter of any Contract and supersede any prior agreement, understanding or arrangement between us, whether oral or in writing
- Changes to these terms
1.1. We may update these terms from time to time. If we do, we will post the revised version on this page. By continuing to use the site after changes are made, you agree to the updated terms.
- Law and jurisdiction
2.1. Contracts for the purchase of Products or Services through our site and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) will be governed by English law. Any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with such Contracts or their formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales
FITZ LIST TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Who Can Join
Fitz List is open to anyone aged 18–25, as well as registered students of any age worldwide.
By registering, you confirm that you meet these eligibility requirements.
- What’s Included
Fitz List provides access to certain free exhibition tickets, discounts on event tickets, bespoke digital content, and opportunities to engage with the Fitzwilliam Museum.
Events and exhibitions eligible for discounts are listed on our website and may be updated from time to time.
Exhibition tickets purchased before registering for Fitz List are not eligible for refunds.
- Booking and Tickets
Fitz List is an online only scheme and you must register at fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk
Tickets can only be booked online at fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk.
Some tickets are limited in number and subject to availability. Discounts or tickets may be withdrawn without notice.
You are eligible to book one ticket per transaction for your own use.
If you know someone eligible for Fitz List who would like to visit, they will need to sign up to the scheme separately to access the benefits.
Tickets are for personal use only and cannot be transferred, exchanged, or resold.
Should we need to cancel an event or exhibition, we will attempt to contact you (by email to the email address provided in your order) in advance to arrange substitute tickets at our discretion.
- Entry Requirements
You must bring valid ID (proof of age or student status) and show your digital or printed ticket to gain admission to the event or exhibition.
The Fitzwilliam Museum reserves the right to refuse admission, cancel a booking, or withdraw access to the Fitz List scheme at its discretion.
We reserve the right to refuse admission or terminate a visit. Any aggressive or abusive behaviour directed towards our staff will not be tolerated.

- Duration of Access
Access to Fitz List will end on your 26th birthday or, for registered students aged 26 or older, on the date of your graduation or, if earlier, the date that your student status ceases. Your registration will then be removed from our Fitz List email updates.
- Communication
Once registered, you will receive email updates about upcoming exhibitions, events, and content.
You can unsubscribe from these updates or leave the scheme at any time by contacting us at development@fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk.
- Data Protection
All personal data is handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and our privacy policy.
