We are seeking an innovative storyteller with ideas, energy and enthusiasm to research, develop and deliver new interpretative schemes for a major redisplay of the Fitzwilliam Museum's upper floor galleries, and contribute to other display and exhibition projects.
As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region, the Fitzwilliam acts as a crucial bridge between the University, the City and the rest of the world, and has an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, award-winning public programmes and significant collections spanning many cultures and centuries. The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in conservation and heritage science.
You will work with curators, subject specialists, participation groups and project teams to shape research and interpretation so that it is creative, compelling and responsive to audience needs; and provide guidance on audience-centric approaches to object and content selection.
You will have a strong understanding of audiences and experience of how to develop content and interpretation according to the separate needs of each. You will have a track record of creativity and innovation in story-led interpretation and will know how to deliver engaging narratives across different media, drawing on sector best practice. Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.
