The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in conservation and heritage science.

The role holder will work directly with the objects to identify, author and input catalogue information and record photography in the Axiell Collections database, for publication to the online Collections search. This role will support delivery of Mission aims around improving access to the collection and catalysing research, thus supporting the Museum's Mission aims and Research & Impact Strategy, and contribute to the delivery of outputs to maintain Museum Accreditation, as set out in the Museum's Documentation Plan.

The purpose of this role is to catalogue the Islamic Coins collections comprising of c. 4,000 coins, reviewing and consolidating historic cataloguing, creating and authoring new Axiell Collections records including descriptions and other fields to ensure compliance with SPECTRUM standards. These records will be surfaced to researchers and other audiences through the online Collections Search. This requires a working knowledge of Islamic Coin collections, undertaking literature and database reviews, liaising with researchers, to ensure the catalogue entries reflect current knowledge.

We are seeking someone with experience of authoring catalogue records in a Museum collections environment and working knowledge/fluency in Arabic. In addition, someone who has excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 22 months in the first instance.
