This year at Cambridge Festival, our events complement our upcoming exhibition The Human Touch: Making Art, Leaving Traces. The events are:
The Magic Touch This event is an online workshop for 3 - 5 years old exploring themes from the exhibition with sensory and creative activities. There is only 1 space left for the 1pm session, the morning session has sold out.
Missing Touch? Curating 'The Human Touch' during a global pandemic This event is hosted by the exhibition's curators Elenor Ling and Suzanne Reynolds where they discuss artworks from the show as well as the challenges of curating an exhibition with Covid-19 restrictions. The curators encourage you to ask questions during this talk. .
We also have videos from our conservators featuring in the festival which aim to open a dialogue around how investigating material culture can help society understand the value of objects. Five short films will explore the themes of reuse, respect, repair, recycling, and reward. These ideas remind us of the motivation for reuse and the diversity of interpretations objects inspire. The films will invite viewers to share their responses to these themes with stories and pictures of objects close to them and why they value them. Find out more
