This Sunday (17 May 2009) is the last chance to see the exhibition Kachōfūgetsu: The Natural World in Japanese Prints. This choice selection of woodblock prints and books by Japanese printmakers includes beautifully subtle and exquisitely detailed works by Hokusai and Utamaro, exploring the idea of 'Kachōfūgetsu': a word literally meaning 'flower and bird, wind and moon', and used as a term to describe the beauty of the natural world as a whole.
New: ‘turn the pages’ of Utamaro’s illustrated books online with this interactive web feature.
