Professor David Bindman
David Bindman is Emeritus Professor of the History of Art, University College London. His first publication was the catalogue of the Fitzwilliam Blake collection (1970) and he was curator of the Blake exhibition in Hamburg, 1975. He has written extensively on British art, including books on William Hogarth and the sculptor Roubiliac. In recent years he has worked on issues of art and race, including Ape to Apollo, 2002 and ‘Race is Everything’: Art and Human Difference, 2023. He was Visiting Professor at Harvard, 2011-17, and continues to be an editor of the series The Image of the Black in Western Art.
