William Holman Hunt

Nationality: British

1827 - 1910

Hunt started his career as an office clerk, taking evening drawing classes and eventually gaining admittance to the Royal Academy Schools in 1844. There he met John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti and together they formed the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848. Hunt and his fellow Pre-Raphaelites used painting outdoors to capture precise details of nature and the effects light and colour.
