To protect the health and wellbeing of visitors and staff, many of whom are not yet fully vaccinated, the Fitzwilliam Museum has decided to maintain a number of COVID mitigation measures. These include strongly encouraging the wearing of face coverings and social distancing as well as ticketing for admissions, reduced capacity and regular hand sanitising.
This reflects industry best practice, visitor sentiment research and guidance from the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions and the University of Cambridge. The Museum and the Museum Café will continue to display the QR code for the NHS Test and Trace App, which visitors are encouraged to use.
For the safety of visitors and staff, you are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering during your visit unless you are exempt; this is in line with guidance from the University of Cambridge and Association of Leading Visitor Attractions. We support the Sunflower Lanyards initiative.
We now only accept contactless payments and we encourage our visitors to refrain from touching surfaces unless necessary.
The Museum is now ticketed for all access. Please book online and if you can, in advance. This will help us to enhance your experience.
If you, your family or anyone you live with displays symptoms associated with C-19, please delay your visit until safe to do so. We will try and accomodate rebooking.
We recommend public transport as the best method to visit the Museum, and as Cambridge is renowned as a bicycle friendly city this method of transport is ideal and we have bicycle parking on site.
The nearest railway station is Cambridge (approx. 20 mins walk), with taxis and frequent buses to the city centre. The U bus from the station stops outside the Museum every day. (Turn left as you exit the station, and cross the road to the bus stops on the far side.)
